Two Figures in A Room 8
Archival ink on museum-quality cotton rag paper
In her Two Figures in a Room series, London-based artist Katie Burdon turns to the bedroom as a stage for intimacy and transformation. For Burdon, the bedroom is a private world that bends with our moods—a place where we sleep, cry, make love, dream, and keep our secrets. Here, two lovers become a single, shifting form, their bodies tangled in the blur of desire and tenderness.
The series unfolds like a dream, where the familiar feels slightly off, and emotion distorts the ordinary. Some details keep us anchored—the curve of a shoulder, the fold of a sheet—while others pull us into a haze of feeling and memory, leaving us suspended between reality and reverie.

“I hope for a personal layer to manifest in my work; scenes filled with familiarity and curiosity are made from loose, spontaneous moments I have captured with friends. My images are always driven by imagination with femininity at the heart of my practice.”
