Rolling Hills Roses
Archival pigment print
There is a hushed intimacy in this new series of photographic prints from Gia Coppola. When her close friend and production designer Natalie Ziering welcomed Coppola into her grandmother Dottie’s house in Palos Verdes, the artist was thrilled for the opportunity to take photos again for her own enjoyment. That joy exudes from each piece in the Rolling Hills Estate series, as Coppola tenderly documents Dottie’s rose garden and relics in the house she built in the 1980s. The works contain a stillness and a sense of contentment—the sense of a life well-lived and a house well-loved. And the peace of an artist simply doing what she loves.
