Lives and works in Los Angeles, CA
Anatole Heger’s work inhabits a liminal space where self and nature blur. Figures drift through otherworldly landscapes—sometimes dissolving, sometimes resisting subsumption. Heger’s approach to figuration is loose, fluid—an extension of the natural world rather than a departure from it. It is not clear whether they are moving through the space or being absorbed by it, whether they are seekers or subjects of the land’s own inscrutable will. The balance of power is always shifting, and the viewer, like the figures in his paintings, is left suspended in the ambiguity A muted palette heightens the quiet tension, stripping away excess to reveal something mythic yet deeply personal. “The unknown makes beauty immortal,” Heger has said. Recent exhibition include New Image Art, NADA Miami 2024. Recent aquisitions include the Rogath Family collection.
