Embracing What Is
Oil on canvas
Petra Schott’s large abstract paintings channel the immersive experience of nature into bold gestures and expressive color fields. Inspired by her weekly walks, where the rhythmic movement of hiking quiets the mind and attunes her to the landscape, her work embodies a similar meditative state—one where time dissolves, and painting becomes an act of full presence. Through layers of rich, intuitive brushwork, Schott captures the ebb and flow of thought, emotion, and environment, weaving together elements of memory and myth with the immediacy of the moment.
In Schott's Words:
The painting Embracing What Is captures the process of coming to terms with the present and all that has unfolded. It speaks to the power of acceptance—of letting go of resistance and simply being present with every detail, every emotion, past and present. In this quiet surrender, a sense of healing emerges.
