Brianna Lance’s “Flowers” series explores themes of nature, meditation, and transformation. Lance considers her paintings to be diaries of her meditations; the medium is an outlet to express her subconscious in a way that doesn’t feel possible verbally. Her watercolors of flowers represent the interconnectedness of nature and the mind, while the more figurative works depict visions from her meditations and connections to the spiritual realm. Lance’s embroidered textiles recycle remnants of her practice into final works, as each piece is created from an old painting drop cloth.
