Ink on paper
In an evolution of her practice, Alara Gee’s new series explores ink painting with color. For Instant Stratification, Gee works with the tints, tones, and optical effects that arise from the application of a single hue, challenging the viewer to look through the layered brushstrokes within each piece. The monochromatic compositions are firmly anchored in the artist’s relationship with geometric forms, yet for the first time, Gee examines new shape and space relationships — resulting in this delightful series of liberal and playful abstractions.
