Pencil on paper. Framed in stained Malaysian pine.
In Waste Land, Claire Salvo dares us to see ordinary objects — a box of cigarettes, perhaps, or a discarded wrapper — with fresh eyes. The new series of hyper realistic works depicts remnants of life in Los Angeles. In meticulous detail, these mind-bending pieces explore beauty in the banal.
“I like turning the ordinary into something mind-bending.”
