Umber unmercerized cotton on canvas with custom walnut wood frame
De la Terre is a body of work that draws its direct inspiration from the earth’s natural textures, celebrating the rich, tactile landscapes that surround us. Each piece within the collection mirrors the organic beauty of nature’s intricate layers, specifically the muted tones found in southern California.
The inspiration for De la Terre stems from the idea that the earth is a living canvas, constantly evolving and sculpting itself through time, weather, and human interaction. The collection captures these transformations, blending the raw material of cotton and wood, with the artisanal technique of hand weaving to create surfaces that feel alive with depth and movement.
Using a palette of earthy tones—muted browns, rich burgundy, verdant salmon and earthy beiges—the textiles invoke the sense of being connected to the ground beneath our feet. The intricate detailing in each piece mimics natural textures: moss clinging to stones, cracked desert earth, the striations of rock formations, and the fluid undulations of rivers and oceans.
This collection is a tribute to the tactile quality of the world around us, reminding us of our intrinsic bond with the land.

“I feel that I am a part of a tradition that generations before me have done, working with thread, working with their hands. It is my goal to carry on this tradition, but in a new way.”
