Flor con Pantalon a Rayas
Committed to a body of work that seeks to explore the intimacy of life in the Patagonian mountains, Lola Erhart presents a series of portraits of her friends as an invitation to explore the poetry in everyday life. The weave of the fabric in each painting becomes a central element, indeed a common thread, across the series as she contemplates the loom as a practice that transcends cultures and generations and a valuable object of protection that comes from a deeply meditative practice.

âWhat I look for when I'm doing a portrait is to capture the presence of the person Iâm portraying. I believe that the viewer can come to feel the presence of the portrayed person by observing their eyes and their gaze. I feel that living surrounded by mountains has had a subtle but powerful effect on my painting.â
