Archival ink on museum-quality cotton rag paper
The Sculptural Relief Series by Divine Southgate-Smith dismantles classical architecture into soft and malleable structures, underscoring the artist's background in sculpture and printmaking. The influence of relief printing, a traditional printmaking technique steeped in architectural and archaeological heritage, resonates throughout these works, invoking the sense of touch and the sculpted surface. With a subtle interplay of depth and shadow, the series captivates the eye, creating mesmerizing illusions of pleats and folds. This collection exemplifies the artist's skilful balance of the past and the present, offering a timeless exploration of form and texture.
